Details: Alabali Radovan said that the German ministry is expanding support "to secure heating, water supply and electricity to more than two and a half million people".
"Immediate aid is crucial to maintaining basic services in Ukraine, especially now in the cold winter," she added.
The funds are primarily intended for investments in decentralised heating systems, such as mobile heating units.
"Municipalities should be able to ensure the heating of schools, kindergartens and hospitals, even if large power plants are attacked. These measures in energy supply help people manage their daily lives," said Alabali Radovan.
The assistance follows a request from the Ukrainian side.
Background:
- Earlier, Luxembourg contributed €10 million to support Ukraine's energy sector
- At the beginning of December, Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy announced it will provide an additional €100 million to help rebuild Ukraine's energy infrastructure damaged during the war, in addition to the €60 million already pledged this year. Germany is the largest donor to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.
