Ukrainian border guards said they thwarted an attempted Russian crossing of the state border in Kharkiv Oblast, killing at least nine Russian troops.
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine said the incident took place on December 25 near the Lozova River.
Crossing attempt detected despite darkness, weatherAccording to the statement, a Russian group attempted to cross the border by moving through icy water under cover of darkness and difficult weather conditions.
The crossing attempt was detected by operators from the Stryks reconnaissance and strike drone unit of the 4th Border Detachment.
Border guards said drone operators tracked the group and carried out strikes on the attackers, disrupting the attempted advance.
