Ukraine has signed agreements with German partners totaling more than €1.2 billion, Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal has announced. The agreements fall within the framework of strengthening defense cooperation with Germany.

Among the key outcomes is the long-term supply of spare parts for Patriot systems. This will allow Ukraine to significantly accelerate the repair, modernization, and restoration of existing air defense complexes.

The agreements also include the delivery of two Patriot systems and nine IRIS-T units, which will substantially enhance the protection of Ukrainian cities against Russian missile and drone attacks while simultaneously strengthening Europe’s overall security.

Drones as a war priority: €200 million for Ukrainian UAVs

A key aspect of the agreements is the purchase of Ukrainian drones valued at €200 million. According to Shmyhal, drones are currently one of the key tools for deterring Russian offensives and increasing enemy losses.

Additionally, a deal was signed for the joint production of the “Linza” UAV under the Build with Ukraine initiative, in cooperation with Frontline Robotics and Quantum Systems, which will allow scaling tactical reconnaissance on the frontline.

Artillery breakthrough: 200 “Bohdana” self-propelled howitzers on Zetros chassis

A separate strategic component is the largest artillery agreement under which is planned to produce 200 “Bohdana” self-propelled howitzers on the new Zetros chassis, with a total project value of €750 million.

This decision will significantly strengthen the artillery capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and ensure the steady increase of firepower on the frontline.

Long-term support: €11.5 billion from Germany in 2026

Shmyhal also reminded that, thanks to agreements between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Germany will allocate €11.5 billion in 2026 to support Ukraine’s defense.

The focus of the assistance includes air defense, UAVs, artillery rounds, and electronic warfare systems. Overall, Ukraine will receive defense support from 15 partner countries.
