Details: The agreements provide, among other things, for the long-term supply of spare parts for Ukraine's Patriot systems. This will enable faster repairs, modernisation and restoration of the existing systems.
They also include the purchase of Ukrainian UAVs worth €200 million, as well as an artillery project to produce 200 Bohdana self-propelled howitzers on the new Zetros chassis, with a total value of €750 million.
In addition, the joint production of Ukrainian Linza UAVs will be launched in cooperation between the Ukrainian company Frontline Robotics and the German company Quantum Systems. These UAVs will enable the scaling up of tactical reconnaissance.
Furthermore, contracts have been signed to ensure uninterrupted supplies of the latest electronic warfare systems at the tactical level.
According to Shmyhal, thanks to agreements reached between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Germany has committed to allocating €11.5 billion in support of Ukraine next year.
"I am grateful to Defence Minister Boris Pistorius for announcing this important support at the Ramstein meeting. We particularly value the transfer of the two promised Patriot systems and the ninth IRIS-T. This will help protect Ukrainian cities and strengthen European security," Shmyhal wrote.
Background:
- At the Ramstein meeting, Pistorius announced plans to transfer Sidewinder missiles to Ukraine to strengthen its air defence.
- At the same meeting, UK Defence Secretary John Healey announced the largest single-year investment to date – £600 million – to bolster Ukraine's air defence.
